New Judge for American Idol – Why?

I see American Idol is adding a new judge to their singing show. Grammy-nominated songwriter Kara DioGuardi will join the panel this fall when season 8 kicks off this January.

So why are they doing this? is it because Paula tired of being the only woman on the panel, or is it for ratings? I think its so someone can help Paula keep track of how many songs someone sang!

Executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz said that the show wanted to have 4 judges all along and that other versions of the show have 4 and they work well,
